Desa Pura is a remarkable homecoming, rooted in the spiritual heart of Bali. Surrounded by pristine flora and fauna as far as the eye can see, this new residential enclave is named after the Indonesian words for ‘village’ (desa) and ‘temple’ (pura). A place where traditional ritual and natural harmony flow seamlessly into everyday life.
Designed by celebrated architect Alexis Dornier, Desa Pura follows the layered spirit of Balinese compounds: a community where every dwelling is shaped around its purpose. With stepped walls and shifting levels, each residence becomes a slow unfolding of rooms, courtyards, and open sky.
The heart of Desa Pura is an open communal area, braided into the fiber of the local village and our commitment to natural and cultural preservation. It opens up into a blossoming garden, adorned with traditional Balinese stone statues of Hindu deities. A welcoming creative space featuring a local market, concept store and café to share inspiration and connection.
The rivers and waterfalls shimmering in the surrounding landscape find their way inward. Clear water flows through entry wells, slender fountains, and interior patios. Intertwined with Alexis Dornier’s signature use of natural materials and sustainable design, water is a symbol of cleansing and presence — gently marking transitions and softening the geometry of each space.
Just south of Ubud, Desa Pura is nestled on 4 hectares of lush tropical land. It is encircled by an endless sea of green — spanning 147 rice terraces and hundreds of hectares of jungle, river canyons, and swaying coconut trees. Rising with the sun, mornings here are greeted by the sounds of calming creeks and birdsong.
While dwelling in nature, Desa Pura is just a short ride from Ubud’s vibrant cultural, creative, and culinary riches — an excellent range of artisan cafés, galeries, markets, and wellness offerings all within easy reach. The island’s premier schools, including holistic Green School and international Pelangi School, are conveniently close.
